Sustainable Water Access and Conservation

Our Approach

 Developing Sustainable Water Sources

We focus on long-term solutions that provide communities with consistent access to clean water. Our key initiatives include:

  • Drilling and Rehabilitating Boreholes – Constructing new boreholes and repairing non-functional ones.
  • Rainwater Harvesting Systems – Installing storage tanks and catchment systems in schools, hospitals, and households.
  • Spring Protection & Wells – Developing and protecting natural springs and shallow wells to ensure clean water supply.
  • Sand Dams – Constructing sand dams to harvest and store rainwater, providing sustainable water source even during dry seasons.
  • Improving Water Infrastructure

A key challenge in water access is inadequate infrastructure, leading to water loss and contamination. We work to:

  • Expand Pipeline Networks – Connecting communities to safe water sources through gravity-fed and pumped pipeline systems.
  • Install Water Storage Facilities – Building reservoirs, tanks, and distribution points to improve availability.
  • Improve Sanitation & Hygiene Facilities – Constructing latrines, handwashinghand washing stations, and drainage systems to reduce waterborne diseases.
Promoting Water Conservation & Management

To ensure sustainable water use, we train communities on:

  • Efficient Water Use Practices – Encouraging rainwater harvesting and drip irrigation in farming.
  • Community-Based Water Management Committees – Empowering locals to manage and maintain water systems.
  • Water Treatment & Purification – Teaching filtration, chlorination, and safe storage techniques to reduce contamination.

Impact & Success Stories

West Pokot Borehole Rehabilitation (2023)
  • Rehabilitated 5 non-functional boreholes, benefiting over 10,000 people.
  • Trained 20 community water managers to maintain the systems.
  • Rainwater Harvesting for Schools (2024)
  • Installed 10,000-liter storage tanks in 15 schools, ensuring continuous water supply for over 5,000 students
  • Pipeline Extension Project (2025)
  • Connected three remote villages to a reliable water source, improving access for 3,500+ residents.
