About Sustainable Integrated Development Solutions (SIDS) 

Sustainable Integrated Development Solutions (SIDS) was initially established in January 2024 as a support group assisting other organizations operating in the region. However, recognizing the growing need for its services, the expansion of programs, and the importance of independent operations to engage all stakeholders, the organization evolved. In December 20244, the decision was made to formally establish SIDS as a Community-Based Organization (CBO).

Sustainable Integrated Development Solutions (SIDS) was initially established in January 2020 as a support group assisting other organizations operating in the region. However, recognizing the growing need for its services, the expansion of programs, and the importance of independent operations to engage all stakeholders, the organization evolved. In December 2024, the decision was made to formally establish SIDS as a Community-Based Organization (CBO).

Officially registered with the Ministry of Social Services in March 2025 under registration number NP/DSD/CBO/2025/2450 SIDS is committed to addressing the challenges faced by marginalized and nomadic communities. The organization focuses on sustainable development solutions aimed at improving the livelihoods of these communities and fostering long-term resilience.

Purpose:

“We aim to Empower Communities in Rural Areas Kenya, especially in the arid regions, by enhancing access to essential services, protecting the environment and advocating for human right and effective governance”

Vision:

A resilient and empowered society where communities in Arid and Semi-Arid Lands (ASALs) thrive through sustainable solutions.

Mission:

To improve the quality of life for vulnerable communities in ASALs by enhancing access to clean water, quality healthcare, sustainable livelihoods, environmental conservation, education, and good governance through innovative, community-driven, and sustainable solutions.

2020: The Beginning

  • January 2020 – SIDS was founded as a support group, working alongside other organizations in the region to address community challenges.

2021: The Shift towards Independence

  • December 2024 – Recognizing the increasing demand for services and the need for a more structured approach, the decision was made to transition into a Community-Based Organization (CBO).

2022: Official Registration & Expansion

  • March 2025 – Officially registered with the Ministry of Social Services under Registration Number NP/DSD/CBO/2025/2450.
  • Expanded programs to focus on Sustainable Integrated Development Solutions (SIDS)to better serve marginalized and nomadic communities.

2023: Strengthening Impact

  • Strengthened partnerships with local stakeholders to enhance service delivery.
  • Introduced community-driven initiatives promoting sustainable development and self-reliance.

2024 & Beyond: Future Vision

  • Scaling up interventions in water access, healthcare, renewable energy, and nutrition.
  • Expanding outreach programs to reach more marginalized communities.
  • Strengthening partnerships for long-term sustainability and impact.
